Smoke Rise is a warm and compassionate fellowship of believers because of strong leadership. The strength of Smoke Rise lies in
its members and their dedication and commitment to the work of the church. God has given each of us gifts and talents. (Members
are asked to consider carefully the area of ministry you can share these gifts and talents.)
The following committees and teams are available for member participation. To volunteer or for more information, please contact

Committees
• Building: Guides the church in and oversees matters relating to the repair, upkeep, maintenance, and
safety of church buildings.
• Committee on Committees: Nominates persons to serve as members on all Standing Committees.
• Endowment Trust: Oversees all funds held in trust by the church including investment and spending policies.
• Finance: Responsible for the financial well being of the Church and to oversee all church finances, gifts, revenues, offerings, receipts and expenditures.
• Missions Financial Support: Oversees and directs expenditures for mission activities, trips & projects.
• Music: Assists the Minister of Music in leading the Church in an effective, meaningful and worshipful ministry of music.
• Personnel: Guides the Church in all personnel matters and in the employment of ministerial and church staff personnel.
• Stewardship: Guides the Church in promoting stewardship awareness, including financial support of ministries, stewardship education, and financial planning.
• Worship: Responsible for maintaining the sanctuary and chapel, preparing these areas for worship.
Teams
• Adult Education/Activities: Serves in an advisory capacity to the Minister of Adults in planning
educational opportunities for adults.
• Audio: Responsible for operating the sound system for all church functions, including set-up of needed
equipment.
• Baptismal: Assists the Pastor in the preparation of the baptistry and assists the candidates for baptism before and after their baptism.
• Benevolence: Reviews requests for personal or financial assistance made to the Church; assists the
minister directing the help.
• Brotherhood: Extension of men's ministry with emphasis on special projects.
• Children's Education/Activities: Serves as an advisory committee to the Minister of Children.
• Cooperative Ministries: Assist the Church in relating to and participating with the Lilburn & Stone
Mountain Cooperative Ministries to meet social and other needs of those within the church community.
• Counting: Responsible for counting Sunday's offering and preparing the bank deposit.
• Decorating: Guides the Church in decorating and furnishing the Church buildings.
• Food Services: Assists the Church Hostess in the best and most effective use of the kitchen and dining
room facilities and equipment, and shares responsibilities with the Hostess for all meal services rendered at the Church.
• Grounds: Responsible for the beautification, landscaping, care, and safety of the church grounds.
• Hospice/Bereavement: Trains those interested in ministering to terminally ill members and assisting
those experiencing grief.
• Intercessory Prayer: Receives and prays for needs that are shared by Church members through the prayer
request system and makes a written response to each request.
• Lord's Supper: Prepares the trays, plates and elements for the observance of the Lord's Supper, and
following the supper, cleans and stores items used.
• Media Center: Responsible for providing guidance and leadership in the development and ministry of the
Church media center.
• Missions Task Force: Guides the Church in mission opportunities within the community, seeks and reviews
any mission opportunities and needs, recommending appropriate responses to the church.
• Nursery Education/Activities: Assists the Nursery Director in determining nursery policies and
procedures and prepares for special events sponsored by the Nursery Ministry such as the Preschool Christmas Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt.
• Outreach: Guides and assists the Church in its outreach ministry and its response to persons who visit
the Church.
• Sanctuary/Chancel: Prepare the worship area for use on Sundays by maintaining materials and order in the pew racks; changing liturgical colors on the pulpit and keeping the worship area organized and neat.
• Seasonal Observances: Guides the Church in the decoration of the sanctuary for all seasonal observances.
• Shut-In Ministry: Provides guidance in the development of the Church's ministry to shut-ins and informs
the Church of special needs of shut-ins and their families.
• Transportation: Oversees the purchase, sale, repair, and upkeep of all Church owned vehicles.
• Usher: Provides all possible assistance to visitors, guests and members before, during and after all
worship services.
• Weekday School: Serves as an advisory committee in the operation of the church Weekday School, including the selection and evaluation of curriculum and materials, the selection of teachers, and the setting of fees.
• Women's Ministry: Help plan special events for women where include dinners, teas, retreats and
conferences.
