The LIVING Room is a multi-purpose space devoted to prayer, reflection, and discovery where Jesus is the host. You are invited to visit this place of quiet, to become still enough, quiet enough, long enough to have a conversation with God. Prayer is about building a relationship with God. You don’t need anything but a willing heart to begin.

Praying the Scriptures - April 11
In this session, we will learn about an ancient method that provides a way of listening to the texts of the Bible as if we were in conversation with God. By reading, reflecting, responding and resting with the words of the Bible, we enter into a relationship with our Creator. Note: this month the session is on the 2nd Sunday instead of the first Sunday.
The Welcoming Prayer - May 2
The Welcoming Prayer is a method of consenting to God’s presence and action in our physical and emotional reactions to events and situations in daily life. Through the action of the Holy Spirit, this practice empowers us to take appropriate action as freely and lovingly as possible in any situation that presents itself in our lives.
The Forgiveness Proccess - June 6
Forgiving is one of the most difficult and complex gestures and yet, like love; it is one of the things which defines the essence of our humanity. It is not so much about the other as it is about ourselves. In this session, participants will go through a guided prayer process. Through the prayer of forgiveness, we will explore forgiving ourselves and forgiving others.
The Jesus Prayer - July 11
The Jesus prayer is a short phrase using Jesus’ name. The history of the Jesus Prayer goes back, as far as we know, to the early sixth century, with Diadochos, who taught that repetition of the prayer leads to inner stillness. We are called to pray without ceasing according to 1 Thess. 5:17. The real question is, how? The Jesus Prayer provides one good way.
Intercessory Prayer - August 1
Intercessory prayer is prayer on behalf of others. The role of mediator in prayer is prevalent in the Old Testament as in Abraham, Moses, Samuel, Jeremiah. In the New Testament, Christ is pictured as the ultimate intercessor. We follow him in praying for loved ones, as well as for church and political leaders, local and global situations. In this session, participants will have opportunity to participate in a candle lighting session and to pray for the people in their lives (praying out loud is not required).
Praying the Scriptures - September 12
In this session, we will learn about an ancient method that provides a way of listening to the texts of the Bible as if we were in conversation with God. By reading, reflecting, responding and resting with the words of the Bible, we enter into a relationship with our Creator. Note: this month the session is on the 2nd Sunday instead of the first Sunday.
World Communion Sunday - October 3
Today in our worship services we will celebrate communion with the worldwide Christian community. In this session we will spend some time reflecting silently on our relationship with Christ choosing a variety of creative methods, followed by communion at 11:00 worship.
Review of the Day - November 7
How do the string of days which make up our lives relate to one another, build upon another, and reveal God’s will for our lives? God is daily at work in our lives, but when are we still enough, quiet enough, long enough to “rejoice and be glad in it?” Long ago, a man by the name of Ignatius developed a prayer exercise called the Daily Examen. This experience of prayer leads the participant to review his or her day with a view toward where God was at work. Five simple steps help bring clarity to what God is saying on any given day, as well as discern where God might be leading for the future. You are invited to experience this prayerful process as a tool for spiritual growth and direction.
Advent Meditation - November 28, December 5, 12
The word Advent means "coming" or "arrival." It is marked by a spirit of anticipation, preparation, and longing as we await the birth of the Christ child. Our prayer will focus on these three things: anticipation, preparation and longing – to discern what God is doing in our lives during this season. Three Sundays.
